All of the women are incredibly clear. A subject is always stated early on or clearly derived from context. An emotion is portrayed passionately and without apology. A purpose is always implied gently. While some pieces enjoy spelling it out with direct comments or humour others slip through the cracks more subtly. The balance between each piece makes for gratifying reading. I am left thinking about pungent lines from some, and general feelings from others.
The referential modernity throughout held an elegantly dirty sophistication which can only be sourced from the op-shop wearing divas of Wellington.
